Autumn has started

21 September '18
Autumn has officially started today. Is your car ready for autumn and well prepared for heavy rain showers and humid and cold weather? 5 tips so you can get and stay safe on the road!

1. Check the profile of your tyres
Winter is the season when your tyres need to be at their best. So, have them checked now — long before bad weather suddenly appears — to ensure they have the proper tread. The legally defined minimum tread depth is 1.6 mm, but then your tyres are already worn down ... Too little profile can become dangerous because you lose control faster in wet conditions. Replace your tyres with an external 2.5 - 3 mm residual profile.

2. Check your wiper blades
How do you know your wiper blades need to be changed? Check the rubbers of the wipers, if they feel dehydrated, they need to be replaced. Replace them as soon as they leave streaks and make sure that the wiper fluid is refilled.

3. Regularly check your lighting (rear, front, and fog lights)
This way the car is clearly visible (e.g. at night or during fog) and you keep a good view of the road as a driver.

4. Prevent foggy car windows
No matter what the climate is like where you live, keeping the temperature comfortable inside your car may mean battling foggy windows. First of all, fight them with your fan. Put them on the highest position and point them at the windshield. Heat your car maximum. As soon as the visibility increases you put the winders on the middle position. Car windows are no longer covered with this tip: rub the inside of the windows with a little shampoo!

5. Arm yourself against temporary blindness
Some drivers may use the car’s sun visor to block out the low sun and reduce glare. While this can be effective, wearing sunglasses can further improve comfort and safety. Keeping a pair of sunglasses in the car can prove really handy not just during the spring and summer but also the winter months especially. Ideally you’ll want the sunglasses in your car to have polarised lenses.
